Vasudan Language Reference

This reference describes the military dialect of the Vasudan language. Military Vasudan is a much more regular and simplified version of the language than most other dialects in common usage, particularly the diplomatic and artistic dialects. This is done to facilitate the rapid communication required on a battlefield, where the more traditional forms of conversation could cost vital time and lead to defeat. For example, the various affixes designating social and political status are reduced to just two: a superior and an inferior.

Word order, though not strict, generally follows the subject-object-verb pattern. The Vasudan language shares this word order with most Terran languages (with the significant exception of Terran Standard) that have a preferred order. This and other linguistic commonalities with Terran languages have led linguists of both species to postulate that language development inherently adheres to certain patterns regardless of race or environment.
