Sol invasion appears to have been stopped, along with access to Sol
March 31, 2335 08:31:20 - GNP

Top GTA officials have released an official statement this morning regarding the Lucifer destroyer and its inevitable attack on Earth. At approximately 1720 hours yesterday evening, the GTD Bastion engaged another Shivan destroyer in the Sirius system. The Bastion received only moderate damage thanks to the skilled fighter and bomber wings protecting her, but the delay prevented it from intercepting the Lucifer in time. However, several wings of fighters and bombers were able to pursue the Lucifer into subspace. What we know from hear has come from analysis of transmissions and other signatures we received from the node before it closed. It appears that the bomber wing was able to disable all the reactors on the Lucifer, causing it to become unstable. Instead of blowing up well within the node, however, the Lucifer managed to start the subspace exit process, detonating while exiting subspace into the Sol system. No pilots have returned from Sol, and attempts to access Sol through the node have been unsuccessful since the explosion. Scientists fear the explosion has destabilized the node and that it may remain in such a state permanently. However it is too early to determine this for certain. At the moment we can only hope that Sol is indeed safe, and that access may eventually be restored.

Shivans en route to Sol
March 29, 2335 05:00:00 - GNP

Command has issued a statement that the Shivans are en route to the Sol system. The Lucifer destroyer that devastated Vasuda Prime seems to be on its way to Earth. Officials estimate it will arrive in less than 2 days, leaving little time to mount their planned attack against the destroyer. Command is currently making its final preparations for the defense, and moving fleet assets into position for the defense of the Delta Serpentis-Sol node. This is the Galactic News Press saying good night, and good luck.

Recent activity causing problems with the communication network
March 28, 2335 12:00:00 - GNP

The Shivan attacks have been wreaking havoc on the communications infrastructure of the GTA. Many news broadcasts have been delayed or disappeared, and technicians have been working round the clock to make sure that all outer systems are informed of events in a timely manner of events. Still, some delays have occured and we apologize, there are still some nodes reporting that they are out of sync and we are working to bring them up to date as quickly as possible.

Records deciphered, Command seems hopeful
March 20, 2335 14:37:23 - GNP

Command reports that they have gained a wealth of information from the recovered records, and that it is currently helping them formulate a plan to deal with the Shivans. Much of the plan is classified, but officials report that spirits are high among the fleet in anticipation of the news, which hasn't been the case for some time.

Anvil falls
March 17, 2335 21:08:52 - GNP

GTA command has reported a defeat of the Hammer of Light flagship, the Anvil, in a battle in the Altair system earlier today. This is a major blow to the renegade group, and should help the PVE in their goal of minimizing the damage caused by this group. The Rosetta team is still safe and working to decipher the records recovered from the ruins as they make their way back to Terran controlled space.

Hammer of Light interfering in Altair operations
March 12, 2335 18:15:45 - GNP

GTA officials reported today that the Hammer of Light has become aware of the GTA presence in the Altair system. Currently, the Hammer of Light has been in control of the system, and the Rosetta team has been operating under their noses. GTA assets are being moved to ensure the safety of the team, and to deal with any other threats that may be posed to the success of this increasingly important mission.

Hammer of Light interfering in Altair operations
March 7, 2335 10:30:21 - GNP

We have received reports that the GTA scientists sent to Altair to investigate the ancient ruins have run across several obstacles on their way there. Command reports the defeat of a Shivan cruiser that was guarding the Deneb-Altair jump node, allowing passage into the system. Upon arriving into the system, the scientists were able to evade the Lucifer destroyer and make it safely to the ruins to begin their investigation. More on this story as information comes in.

Cutoff seems imminent
March 2, 2335 15:51:55 - GNP

It seems the Shivans have all but cut off our access to systems outside a core collection of a handful of systems. We highly recommend avoiding travel to the systems on the edge of contested space. In spite of this news, we have recently learned that this may not be the first time the Shivans have ventured to this part of space. A recent discover by Vasudan scientists who were forced to evacuate their post indicate that the Shivans may have previously attacked a planet in the Altair system, a very long time ago, and that this attack may have been against an ancient civilization living there at the time. This startling news could change many of the things we thought we knew about both ourselves and the Shivans. If only this news could have come during a better time, it might even be something to get excited about. We did learn however, that Command is spending a significant amount of resources to investigate this ancient civilization. We will of course keep you updated on all these events as there continues to be new information all the time.

Antares falling to Shivans
March 2, 2335 09:30:24 - GNP

As predicted, Shivan forces have continued to assault Antares, and Allied commanders are withdrawing to save what assets they can. The Shivans have also attacked fleet assets in Beta Aquilae, putting them only two jumps away from Sol. The GTD Bastion has been moved to the Ribos system. Command is currently attempting to hold points that would prevent us from being cut off completely, but things have not been going well up to this point. They remain optimistic that we will prevail, however. The Shivans have led to startling advances in weapons technology, and every battle yields new information about this enemy that has better prepared our forces for the next battle.

Shivan assault continues
March 1, 2335 22:40:51 - GNP

Shivan forces have attacked the GTA/Vasudan fleet in Alpha Centauri. The fleet is currently in the process of moving evacuees from Vasuda Prime to Aldebaran, and the assault is making the defense of the survivors that much more difficult. We have also received word that the Shivans have mounted an attack in Antares, against the few remaining ships in that system. So far Allied forces have inflicted heavy losses on the Shivans, but the superior numbers of the Shivan fleet will likely mean a retreat from Antares.

Bastion to aid evacuation
March 1, 2335 12:15:03 - GNP

Admiral Shima is now in control of the GTD Bastion fleet, following the loss of the GTD Galatea to the Lucifer. The fleet is currently defending the remaining Vasudan transports as they evacuate from Vasuda Prime, via Alpha Centauri. Reports indicate that the Shivans have managed to take control of Deneb, and Antares may not be far behind, as the bulk of the GTA and Vasudan fleets are occupied with protecting survivors, and have had to leave that system for the time being. GTA Command expects to be on high alert for the next several days, at least.

Update on the Vasuda Prime attack
March 1, 2335 08:47:20 - GNP

After a thirteen hour long siege, the Lucifer destroyer finally ended its attack on Vasuda Prime, leaving behind a smoldering pile of ash of what used to be a magnificent planet. As predicted, virtually nothing of consequence remains on the surface, the cities have been all but vaporized, and most of the escaping transports were never accounted for. Of the ones that have been, GTA Command is sending whatever help it can spare to ensure that they reach a safe destination. More on this story to come.

More bad news from Vasuda Prime
February 31, 2335 22:10:53 - GNP

Several hours into the attack on Vasuda Prime, it appears the destruction of the planet and its inhabitants will be near complete. Showing no signs of mercy or fatigue, reports indicate that the Shivan Lucifer destroyer has already leveled many cities, and most of the transports carrying refugees were unable to escape the planet. At this point, I fear there will be no good news from Vasuda Prime for some time to come.

Shivan Lucifer Warship begins attack on Vasuda Prime
February 31, 2335 19:45:10 - GNP

We wish the news were better, but unfortunately things have gone almost as badly as possible in Vasuda Prime. We have received word that the warship responsible for the destruction of the Galatea is a Lucifer class super destroyer. After reaching Vasuda Prime, the warship defeated any local resistance it encountered, and has now proceeded to attack the planet directly.

The Galatea has been lost
February 31, 2335 12:30:47 - GNP

Early reports state that at approximately 11:45 GST, a Shivan warship warped in to the location where the GTA fleet was holding the Deneb-Vasuda Prime node, and upon its arrival unleashed a massive show of firepower, which has destroyed the GTD Galatea. Admiral Wolf appears to be one of those who went down with the ship. At this point we can only hope its loss was not without meaning. The GTD Bastion was forced to retreat to a more defensible position, as there was no hope of it standing up against the Shivan warship on its own.

Shivan attack on Vasuda Prime has begun
February 31, 2335 09:10:24 - GNP

This just in. We have received word that a Shivan attack has commenced on Vasuda Prime, at the Deneb-Vasuda Prime jump node. GTA Command was anticipating an attack from both Deneb and Antares, but so far it seems that the Shivans have been throwing the brunt of their forces into the fray from Deneb. The GTD Galatea and the GTD Bastion are currently holding that node.

A break in the quiet
February 29, 2335 09:14:36 - GNP

Our agents in the field report that several high ranking officials failed to appear for hearings on the Operation Thresher investigation. This was particularly surprising as Command has not reported any significant military activity since the word from Antares and Deneb, leading to this particular date being chosen for the hearings. When attempting to reach the officials for questions, they could not be reached. We did however, hear rumor that the front is not as quiet as GTA officials have been letting on.

Another update on the Shivan threat
February 20, 2335 17:10:15 - GNP

GTA Command has released more information concerning this recent threat. They believe the Shivans possess tracking technology which, until now, we had never seen the likes. It seems the Shivans were able to track the disabled cruiser to Tombaugh, through subspace, or the dimension in which all intersystem ships travel. Additionally, since the destruction of Tombaugh station, Command seems to be anticipating another attack in the vicinity of Vasuda Prime, sources claim. We could not reach any officials for comment on this matter by press time.

Information on Shivans released to public
February 17, 2335 16:57:24 - GNP

The GTA has declassified information concerning the enemy responsible for the attacks on Tombaugh and other GTA assets throughout our territories. It can be found in the Holonet Reference area. The files cover a significant amount of information on the technologies encountered thus far. As more information is revealed we will be sure to keep you posted.

Rogue Vasudan group attacks Vasudan fleet, survivors relocated
February 15, 2335 19:30:31 - GNP

Earlier today, the rogue Vasudan group, apparently calling themselves the 'Hammer of Light', inflicted massive damage on the fleet near Vega. The survivors were retreated to Deneb and Antares, where GTA forces have kept the Hammer of Light at bay. Civilian unrest has erupted at times in Antares from the influx of the Vasudan population. The local Antarean authorities request that all travel to Antares be suspended if possible for concerns about the already overflowing situation.

PVD Pinnacle aids evacuation of Tombaugh survivors
February 13, 2335 16:21:58 - GNP

The Vasudan destroyer PVD Pinnacle is in the Ribos system assisting the evacuation of the survivors of the attack on Tombaugh station two days ago. A list of survivors will be made available at your local GTA headquarters.

Information released about the attack on Tombaugh
February 12, 2335 11:20:32 - GNP

GTA Command has released information concerning the enemy responsible for the destruction of Tombaugh station. It appears to be a new species, being referred to as the Shivans. Until now Command was skeptical about letting out too much information about this threat, but it appears they were left with no other choice. What information we have has been added to the GH reference database. As more information is available it will also make its way into the database.

Tombaugh Station falls to ruthless attack
February 11, 2335 13:18:43 - GNP

Currently, the details surrounding the destruction of the station are not being released. What we do know is that it was attacked, and reports seem to indicate it taken down with an amount of firepower previously unseen in this galaxy. It is speculated this is where the captured enemy ship had been transported. If you knew someone who was stationed at Tombaugh, you can contact GTA Counseling anytime you wish.

GTA forces capture enemy ship
February 04, 2335 15:34:30 - GNP

According to GTA command, an operation to capture a cruiser-size vessel controlled by this new enemy was successful. The ship is currently being transported to an undisclosed location for further study.

Light shed on circumstances surrounding cease-fire
January 30, 2335 10:53:13 - GNP

This morning, an announcement was made by GTA Command concerning an encounter with a new enemy. This enemy appears to be very hostile in nature, and has caused serious damage to GTA and PVE interests alike. The cause of this hostility is still unknown to the GTA, as is the origin of this new enemy. Check back for more updates on this developing story.

Civilian ships falling under attack in Beta Cygni
January 27, 2335 18:22:01 - GNP

Initial reports suggest that what GTA Command refers to as a rogue group of Vasudans are carrying out hit and run attacks on both civilian and military installations. Their motives are still unclear, but be warned that travel to Beta Cygni could carry elevated risk for the time being.

The Terran Vasudan War is over
January 25, 2335 14:34:38 - GNP

This morning, representatives from the Galactic Terran Alliance and the Parliamentary Vasudan Empire signed a cease-fire and non-aggression pact, putting an end to the bloodshed which has lasted over 14 years.

Operation Thresher not complete failure, commanders claim
January 12, 2335 14:34:38 - GNP

Initial reports that operation Thresher was a complete failure on the behalf of the GTA are being downplayed by GTA command, who say that 'initial loss reports were misleading', and that the withdrawal was due to more factors than solely GTA performance across the 2-day operation.
